WE HAVE AN EQUESTRIAN TEAM?

Yes, we do. GT Equestrian was founded in 1995 and has been thriving on the GT campus, under the radar, for most of that time. We were voted the Best New Organization on Campus by the Technique in 1995, as well.

WHERE DO YOU KEEP THE HORSES?

Contrary to popular belief, our horses don't live on campus, nor is there a secret riding arena in the basement of the CRC. We ride our trainers' horses, as Buzz has requested that we should keep livestock holdings to a minimum to differentiate us from our rival school to the north east.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RIDE?

Club members must be enrolled at Georgia Tech. Team members must be full time, undergraduate students. If you showed in IHSA as an undergrad, you are eligible to continue competing as an alumnus in the Alumni classes.

ARE YOU A VARSITY SPORT?

No, we are a sports club. This means that we get our funding from the Student Government Association, not the Athletic Association. Additionally, the time commitment to the club is far less than a varsity sport. Many of our members hold positions in various other clubs, committees, and Greek organizations.

CAN I JOIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR?

Sure! We would love to have you! If you join in the middle of the year, you will not be able to participate in our shows until the next academic semester. Our IHSA paperwork prevents us from being able to add you to our team roster until the next semester.

ARE THERE TRYOUTS?

We hold evaluations, not tryouts, so that our coaches can determine each member's abilities and place them in the appropriate competition level. That being said, our club and teams are open to all levels of riders, from walk/trot, to high level jumping, dressage, and reining. If you're into horses, we're into you.

DO YOU GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS?

No. Because we are a sports club, we do not offer scholarships to our members. We are funded in part by the Student Government Association at Georgia Tech, and do not have the budget to allow us to give our riders scholarships.
